Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2023 Chicago Labor Day Parade and Eddie Fest! We welcome individuals, families, groups, and students looking to fulfill community service requirements. The deadline to submit a Volunteer Application is August 19, 2023.

 

 Here are a few details to consider:

• The Chicago Labor Day Parade will take place Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023 at 12 p.m.

• Volunteers must be 15 years or older, be in good health, and be able to be outdoors on parade day for an extended period of time.

• Check- In time for volunteers may vary depending on the role (9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.). 

• The parade is a 'rain or shine' event, please dress comfortably and for the weather

Volunteer opportunities include: 

 

Check-In Table: Check-in parade units, and volunteers, and direct them to their staging locations. Distribute volunteer T-shirts

 

Staging /Unit Liaison: Direct parade units to their staging locations. Track, monitor, direct, and usher participants to their designated location and maintain correct marching order.

 

Block Marshal: Block Marshalls are stationed along the parade route and maintain the speed, and spacing of units, as they march down Cottage Grove Avenue. For the safety of everyone, parade marshals will help maintain the curb line, preventing spectators from moving into the street.

 

Disband: Disband parade units to their appropriate area. Prevent pile-ups and more.
